Office of Autism Services

The Office of Autism Services was established in 2008 (633.210 RSMo) to provide leadership in program development for children and adults with autism spectrum disorders, to include establishment of program standards and coordination of program capacity.

DMH and partner agencies in the East and Northwest Autism Projects will stop authorizing all Autism Projects services in January 2020.  The East and Northwest Autism Projects are currently projected to overspend their budgeted allocations by up to $1.3 million.  To ensure the program operates within its allotted funding, no new services may be authorized or re-authorized for all participants in the East and Northwest Autism Projects.  Regional offices should maintain a waitlist of participants not authorized or re-authorized for services.  Service authorizations will resume in July 2020 or earlier, based on actual expenditures and available funds.  DMH will closely monitor actual expenditures to determine when service authorizations may resume.
