Northwest Missouri Autism Project
The Northwest Missouri Autism Project (NWMAP) operates on a family allocation model and serves individuals in 20 counties throughout northwestern Missouri. Individuals are served through the Kansas City and Albany regional offices. Under this model, the Department of Mental Health provides funds for individual families to obtain authorized autism services. Under this model, families have the ability to choose a service provider. The annual amount allocated to families is based on recommendations from the Northwest Parent Advisory Council and available funding. Based on the provider chosen, families may be required to pay for their services and be reimbursed by the Department.
In order to be eligible for Autism Project services, individuals must be eligible to receive services from the Division of Developmental Disabilities and have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. The Division requires documentation of a formal diagnosis for verification during the intake process.
