Nicholas A. Maio-Aether, MAMFT, MSPSY, LBA, CSC, BCBA Recording
Oftentimes, as providers serving adults with disabilities, individuals have needs and wants surrounding sexuality and relationships. Thus, they require access to dating and sex, and also to information that can help them make wise choices, aligned with what they determine is a healthy relationship for them and their desires. This keynote presentation will address the importance of tapping into individual values to define 'healthy relationship', affirming individuals for who they are, and remaining supportive even when the individual one serves has values very different from oneself.

Supporting the needs of individuals at scale requires good leadership. Decades of research on applying behavior analysis to leadership practices has given us a number of tools rooted in Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) proven to be effective at bringing out the best in employees so they can bring out the best in the learners they support. However, OBM is not a one-stop-shop, only to be accessed when something goes wrong; moreover, leadership isn’t about position or title (e.g., CEO, Director, Supervisor, Behavior Analyst, Therapist, etc.). It’s about positively influencing behavior and creating an environment that brings out the best in people. The purpose of this session is to discuss leading from any position through the lens of five behavioral essentials for producing social valid outcomes for all.
