Scott P works in Miller County, MO

Scott is a Corporal with the Miller County Sheriff's Department and an EMT-B with the Miller County Ambulance District. Scott has worked within both his jobs since the very beginning of this. He and his fellow LEOs do not get the recognition that they should, so this is for him and his brothers/sisters in law enforcement. Officers, EMS, Fire fighters, they all do a dangerous job that is 24/7/365. Scott has been spit on, urinated on, and has had feces thrown at him. This is not an unusual occurrence in times that LEOs are berated for the uniform. Scott has been doing this job he loves for over 25 years, as an EMTB for over 17. He is kind and treats folks with respect. He treats our veterans with joy, especially the USMC vets, his wife was in the Navy. He understands the needs and understanding that someone with disabilities, physical and/or intellectual/developmental, might require a gentle hand. When COVID-19 began, he didn't have a mask for use at the sheriff's office. Things were sold out so fast that many of our frontline staff had no chance to get anything. And, honestly, there is only so much that an officer can wear and still be able to do their job and be safe. Masks and hand sanitizer was handed out and they went back out on the street to protect and serve. Scott does this every day. Without question, hesitation, and knowing that, yes, he chose this line of work and all that in means, but, he does so because he loves and believes in what he does. Scott knows that he could contract CV-19 at any time, he does what he can to protect himself and his family, as well as other citizens, but, it is something that could happen, even as it dies out, there is a chance. But, he will get up every afternoon, put on his uniform, get in his patrol vehicle and he will do his job. Protect and serve.
