Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center (NMPRC) is a 108-bed psychiatric hospital that provides inpatient psychiatric services for adults,18 years old and over, often with a diagnosis of a chronic and persistent mental disorder. Admissions are Missouri Revised Statutes Section 552 commitments through the court system.
The current campus is comprised of three 20-bed wings (Carver, Lincoln, and Twain) and six eight-bed cottages. The campus opened with this configuration in July of 1997. It replaced the old St. Joseph State Hospital directly across the street, which had housed the hospital since 1874. The old campus is now a Department of Corrections facility.
