The June 22, 1999, U.S. Supreme Court decision in Olmstead v. L.C., was based on the court's interpretation of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). Title II of the ADA requires that any entity administering public funds must ensure services, programs, and activities are provided in the most integrated setting appropriate to the needs of qualified individuals with disabilities. Persons served must be informed that they have the right to receive services in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs.
