Jason Geneyan

Email: Jason.Geneyan@dmh.mo.gov

Office location: Central Office, Jefferson City.

Fun fact: I have traveled to multiple countries around the world.

Favorite DMH Way tool, and why: The Social Style tool. This is my favorite tool because it allows us to observe and better understand team member’s behavior. It also improves communication and builds trust within the team.

Rod Keown

Email: Rod.Keown@dmh.mo.gov

Office Location: SEMORS, Poplar Bluff.

Fun Fact: I had the opportunity to play saxophone in a band for a former U.S. president.

Favorite DMH Way Tool: CAP. Clarity, alignment and purpose are at the very core of the DMH Way; designed to improve performance, where transformational leadership is the norm. Ultimately, leadership is more than a title, it’s something we choose to do, because it’s who we genuinely are.

Office location: Bellefontaine Habilitation Center, St. Louis.

Fun fact: A monkey once climbed up my leg, into my rain jacket, and deposited his piece of chicken into my pocket while he searched me for valuables.

Favorite DMH Way tool, and why: The De-escalation Process.  I abhor conflict as much as the next person but this resource helps us to healthily navigate a frustrating process, turning conflict into an opportunity to build even stronger relationships and deeper commitment to one another, and the greater good, than if we never had a conflict to resolve in the first place.

Office location: Central Office, Jefferson City.

Fun fact: I have been to all 48 contiguous states and 5 countries.

Favorite DMH Way tool, and why: My favorite DMH Way tool is the Growth, Contributions, and Goals (GCGs) because the tool is focused on the future, and striving toward what we individually and collectively want. When used, we have a better understanding of how we contribute to the greater mission of the Department in our current roles. It also allows us to explore how we can grow as individuals and how our personal goals/growth can fit in the Department. As supervisors, it gives us better insight into how we can support the growth of the staff in our charge. As a result, we better understand the value of what we do and can be more fulfilled with our work.

Office location: Center for Behavioral Medicine, Kansas City.

Fun fact: I love cats but, I am highly allergic so… Chickens it is!

Favorite DMH Way tool, and why: My favorite DMH Way tool is the “Skill Transfer." In my humble opinion change comes with learning, and learning comes with change. If I am to represent the change I want to see I must be able to empower myself, and others to be brave enough to move the needle on the change meter by working towards mastering new (and familiar) skills, beginning with the DMH Way tools. The skills transfer process provides the foundational formula of success in doing just that, and I have had rewarding outcomes since marrying it into my efforts.

Office Location: Central Office, Jefferson City.

Fun Fact: I leave my phone everywhere—restaurants, ball games, rental cars, stores, other state/country but still manage to get it back eventually.

Favorite DMH Way Tool: TIDES—it is a great way to engage conversation and hear from other people without making someone feel “on the spot.”
