Role Modeling the Foundation

Leadership is more than a title, it’s something we choose to do because it’s who we are.

DMH Way Ambassadors are staff that volunteer their time to be DMH Way leaders and serve as advocates by helping their locations implement DMH Way practices and principles, which is foundational to creating stronger working relationships, better engagement, and more fulfillment.

From the moment they walked out of Ambassador Boot Camp, Justin Halterman, Misha Dupree and Northwest Community Services Leadership Team role modeled impactful leadership, by jumping into action and embedding the DMH Way principles into their day to day. They hit the ground running by hosting skill of the month skill ups during their supervisory trainings held every month, leveraging resources to create signage and informational flyers that make the DMH Way visible and accessible for all, and by marrying Northwest’s “good stuff” practice with an “On the Ground” visit from the DMH Way Team and The Carden Group during the month of February. five plus leaders from all levels of the Northwest Community Services organization were in attendance for a day of building upon the skills they have heard so much about. With excitement around the culture all DMH is working toward, clarity and purpose were at the forefront, so everything could align to drive the mission.

For all your dedication... The DMH Way Team tips our hats to you and are happy to spotlight Justin, Misha, and NWCS.

HEAT in Action

(How’s it going?, Expectations, Appreciation/Accountability, Teamwork)

The DMH Way practices and principles help create an environment that recognizes personal value, growth, and commitment as the foundation for success—both inside and outside DMH. Southeast Missouri Residential Services (SEMORS) did just this, by leveraging the “T”, or Teamwork in the DMH Way tool, HEAT, in order to build rapport, facilitate stronger working relationships, and create more engagement and fulfillment, which drives retention.

In December, SEMORS participated in the Poplar Bluff lighted Christmas Parade, which saw more than 8,000 community members in attendance.  With only a week to prepare, every team at SEMORS and some of the individuals served used their creativity and came together to build an amazing float.  Support Care Professional April Black said it best.

“We wanted to encourage teamwork and positive interaction among our peers and promote understanding and positivity about our facility to the community.”

As SEMORS worked with their teams, they ensured clarity, alignment and purpose was front and center.

Kudos and thank you to SEMORS for role modeling the DMH Way!
