The Real Voices-Real Choices Consumer Conference is an annual state wide event that draws approximately 1,000 individuals to participate. It is designed to inform, educate, and empower individuals who have lived experience and/or receive services for mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Many of the individuals who participate are connected through the vast array of providers supported by the Missouri Department of Mental Health. Conference sessions are designed and every effort is made to have representation from all regions of the state, cultures, and various organizations. The event provides a forum to address how more people can take control of their independence and recovery. Issues important to mental health consumers are addressed at the conference. All attendees are encouraged to participate, give constructive input, and have a hand in shaping services as well as future conferences.
