Behavior Resource Team

The Kansas City Regional Office Behavior Resource Team (BRT) provides information, training and consultation on the development and provision of positive behavior supports for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. This will include proactive training on positive behavior supports to environmental evaluations as well as crisis support via phone or direct service when necessary. Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a set of research-based strategies used to increase quality of life and decrease problem behavior by teaching new skills and making changes in a person's environment. Positive Behavior Support intervention strategies are designed to decrease problem behavior and are considered effective when interventions result in increases in an individual's success and personal satisfaction, and the enhancement of positive social interactions across work, academic, recreational, and community settings.
