Fulton State Hospital Foundation
Changing Lives... Improving Communities
The Foundation for the Advancement of the Fulton State Hospital is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which was created to enhance opportunities, through community involvement, to benefit the those receiving treatment and staff of Fulton State Hospital, by offering training and services which cannot be supplied by the State of Missouri's budgetary programs. Fulton State Hospital is the only state hospital in Missouri which did not have such a foundation.
Goals of The Foundation
- To provide assistance to families receiving treatment who could not otherwise afford to visit
- Provide lodging/meals for these families
- To plan fund-raising activities and special programs for specific projects and needs
- In order to reach our goals of the Foundation securing grants with emphasis on such programs as providing scholarships for current and future employees to attend nursing school
Projects of the Foundation
- Sponsoring Mental Health First Aid classes to staff and community members
- Sponsoring "In Our Own Voice" - a public education program developed by NAMI to share personal stories about living with mental illness
- Awarding grants totaling $5,000 to Fulton State Hospital for support of nursing education, professional development and travel assistance for client families
- Community clothing drive for the benefit of those individuals receiving treatment at Fulton State Hospital
- Facilitated Gang Training for staff at the hospital
- Instituted Bluegrass & BBQ festival to raise funds and to acquaint others with the hospital and Foundation
- Provided assistance to the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program staff members to attend Partners for Excellence in Psychiatry (PEP): Neuroscience Treatment Team Partner (NTTP) and Complete Wellness Training in St. Louis
- Facilitate overnight accommodations with local motels for the families of individuals at Christmastime
- Provide travel assistance for family members to visit during Family Day

Bluegrass & BBQ 2013
Mark your calendars now for the 6th Annual Bluegrass & BBQ event. The event will be held on Sunday, September 8th beginning at noon and running until 6 pm. Bring the whole family out and enjoy a day on the front lawn of Fulton State Hospital.
