The Office for Deaf and Multicultural Services is an agency-wide policy and program development office for the Department of Mental Health (DMH). The Director of Deaf and Multicultural Services is responsible for consultation and assistance to DMH facilities and providers delivering mental health services to eligible individuals who are Deaf, hard of hearing or from cultural minority people groups. Activities for systemic development include policy development, evidence based practices and program development informed by advisory input of DMH stakeholders.
For individuals who are requesting service for psychiatric, substance abuse or a developmental disability, the below links provide information about applying for services.
Deaf WarmLine is a 24-hour crisis hotline through TTY or Voice: Call 1-800-380-3323
The crisis hotline is provided by the Leadership through Education & Advocacy for the Deaf (L.E.A.D.) Institute.
If there is a life threatening emergency, call 911.
- For mental health or psychiatric crisis or to request services, individuals can use TTY, video relay or voice to call the ACI crisis line for your local area map.
- For individuals who require treatment for alcohol or drug use, you can review a directory of providers with contact information located in the Treatment Prevention Provider Directory.
- For persons with a developmental disability, please contact the appropriate DD Regional Office.
Please note that the Office for Deaf and Multicultural Services is a DMH office and only addresses mental health needs. Deaf Child and Adolescent Services System Program (CASSP)
CASSP is a system of care team for Deaf children and teens in Mid-Missouri. It helps children and adolescents diagnosed with emotional disturbances to gain access to needed services. This is a free service for families with D/HH children ages 0-21 who experience emotional or behavioral issues and attend school in the following counties: Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole and Montgomery.
